Map & Genral information of Greece & Greek Islands

Greece has 6,000 islands most are scattered in the Aegean and Ionian Sea and only 227 are inhabited. 
 
Mainland Greece is split into 6 Regions:  Thrace (capital Alexandropolis), Macedonia (capital Thessaloniki), Thessalia (capital Larissa), Epirus (capital Ioannina), Central Greece (capital Athens), Peloponesse (capital Patra)
 
The islands are divided into seven groups (from north to south):
Aegean Islands: Agios Efstratios, Thassos, Ikaria, Lesvos, Limnos, Inousses, Samos, Samothrace, Chios, Psara.
The Sporades: Alonissos, Skiathos, Skopelos, Skyros 
Evia
The Saronic Islands: Angistri, Aegina, Poros, Salamina, Spetses, Hydra and the coastal area of Methana.
The Cyclades:  A group of 56 islands, these are just a few to mention Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Syros, Tinos, Folegandros, as well as the Smaller Cyclades Islands comprising if Donousa, Heraklia, Koufonissia and Schinoussa. 
The Dodecanese:  Astypalaia, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kos, Lipsi, Leros, Nisyros, Patmos, Rhodes, Symi, Tilos, Halki.
Crete: with its neighbouring island of Gavdos
The Ionian Sea has its sole island group:
The Ionian Islands: Zakynthos, Ithaca, Corfu, Kefalonia, Lefkada, Paxi, Antipaxi, Ereikoussa, Mathraki, Meganissi, Othoni, Strofades.
  
Electric Current
The standard in Greece is 230V AC (50Hz). UK Appliances will require an adapter and appliances from North America will require a transformer.
